Bryan’s ‘Hard’ Loss

New England Patriots

It’s hard.

Football is my favorite sport. I’ve been a New England Patriots fan as long as I could utter syllables into prophetic lines of poetry and meaning. Here’s a line for you; this really sucks!

If you have been watching the Patriots play for the last 5 years, you’ll know that this divisional game against the Denver Broncos was so unlike the Patriots style, I wonder if aliens hadn’t shoved some things up all their asses.

Everything the Patriots have stood for during that time was somehow forgotten, and something quite rancid oozed out onto the field last night. That was not New England football.

Turnovers, Turnovers, And Some More

Hold up your right hand (I’m a righty, so shut up and just do it), and count your fingers; that’s the amount of turnovers the Patriots gave up last night. This is a team that doesn’t make mistakes. This is a team that has been there, done that, yet how did they play like chumps last night like it was their first dance?

I didn’t speak for hours after the game, just thinking about the long road ahead to next season. Sure, they will be a better team next year, if not just for the fact that they will be healthy, and it looks like they’ll bring in some free agents to help them out, maybe even an unexpected draft pick or two will make plays.

Sour Grapes & Bitter Whine

But this game is going to be a sour taste in my mouth for a long time to come. This one hurts. If Denver actually had won the game, that would be different. In this case, the Patriots lost the game, and there is a difference. Denver did nothing, the Patriots not that much more, but Denver took New England turnovers and scored. After all, when you get the ball 40 yards from your end zone, it’s often not that difficult to play with half a field all night. Couple that with the Patriots poor starting field position all night and you see how the Patriots couldn’t have won playing like they did.

I’ll save a few hundred bucks not having to buy the official Super Bowl game ball, program, DVDs, hat, shirt, coin, and whatever else I thought about buying. I’ll save that money, but I just assume burn it, in protest of the awful play exhibited on the field last night.

As the season closed for New England last night so do my thoughts on this horrible game. I have nothing left to say.

    If Denver actually did “nothing” to beat the Patriots, they must have been a lot worse off than you thought. Was this the first Denver game that you’ve watched, or something?

    It’s funny how fans stick behind their teams and make excuses for them, even when it’s “in the books”. It’s also pretty sad how Brady can think that they just handed Denver points “on a silver platter”. New England was handed a few chances, too, but couldn’t do anything with them.

    @Bryan
    I guess buying that memorabilia this year isn’t a go. Well, I tried telling you, “It ain’t going to happen.” It’s that sour taste from the last time the Patriots played the Eagles, you know you beat them, but something tells you it was just a sick coincidence. I do have to admit, Bailey(however you spell his name…I don’t care to look it up) kicked some ass. That guy is a f-ing freight train. He came out of no where and smashed that cocky guy from Denver. Now, that’s the kind of football I like to watch. NoIce post furi0us.
