CapitalDeceit Bank
So I got a credit card application earlier this month. I looked it over just as I would any other offer. It looked good, so I decided to apply online. The offer already said I was pre-approved, and all I had to do was verify my information. That’s pretty easy. And since it was CapitalOne, I didn’t think twice.
I went through the the online process, very simple and easy. After three screens, I was done. My new card was on it’s way. Then something hit me. Were my eyes deceiving me? I just applied for a CapitalOne credit card right? Wait a minute, no! This is another credit card company trying to spoof CapitalOne’s identity. And it worked!
Notice anything different about the logos below?
Bastards!
Yeah, well I did too, but it was too late. I was applying to CreditOne, not CapitalOne. Talk about making a concerted effort to try and trick people into applying for your cards. I’ve seen that CapitalOne logo a million times, and I don’t even need to read it to know it, which is what these bastards were counting on.
So now I go and read the terms on the back of the application. There is a $69.00 annual fee as well as a $69.00 one-time fee, divided into 12 monthly payments. Basically, I’m already in the hole before I get the card in my hands. Now, they do give you 30 days to cancel and avoid these fees “from the time you are accepted.” I was accepted on May 4th. As of today, May 26th, I still have no card. I wonder why they wait so long to send the card? Maybe because they want you to get it 31 days after you join, thereby voiding your refund rights? That’s my bet.
Well, I’m calling them today to cancel my card. I can’t wait to hear the bullshit they will try and spew to keep me from canceling. I tried calling the same day, but they said there was a problem with my application. Right. I’ll be sure to post back after I cancel.
