Living in Massachusetts, we already have a form of universal healthcare, so I’m really not excited either way. However, I do love watching and listening to all the right-wing nuts who are calling for repeal, etc. They keep telling me this isn’t what the people wanted. Hello? The people voted Republicans out of office just for this reason. Change! If you listen to some of these whackos, you’d think the apocalypse is near.

Obama won. The Democrats (finally) won. Get over it! You want change, put a Republican back in the White House.

I can honestly say that George W. Bush seems like a statesman when compared to Sarah Palin. Just when I think this woman has reached the lowest point on the “dumb scale,” she puts her head down and burrows far deeper. Not too many people can look like an idiot multiple times, within days. But she can.

I have never seen a public figure with such thin skin. It seems it doesn’t matter how petty or ridiculous a joke or jab may be thrown at her, still she gets her panties in a ball. Whether it’s David Letterman, the “elite” media, the Obama Administration, or now Family Guy, does she really think she can win these silly battles? What’s more, who in their right mind would want to fight them?

At one point it may have worked to play the victim to the big, bad, elite media. Now she just sounds like a real bitch. She has cried wolf a dozen too many times, and now she just serves as fodder for the news media. But I guess this is to be expected. After all, Sarah couldn’t handle the rough and tough Alaska media, so how in the hell are we to think she is capable of functioning in the national spotlight?

The root of all Palin’s problems is simple– she dumb. In medical terms, I believe the correct word for her is imbecile. She is like a parrot, being able to perfectly mimic the talking points of the right-wing agenda… or so we thought. Having to write some keywords on her hand for a softball interview doesn’t sound to me like the voice of a party. But if you listen to Fox And Friends, Gretchen Carlson seems to think Palin wrote on her hand on purpose. Yup, that sounds pretty logical. Even Steve Doocy wasn’t buying it.

Now, her latest run-in with the media is an episode of Family Guy, where Chris takes a girl out on a date who happens to have Down Syndrome. Chris asks her what her parents do, and she says her mother is the former governor of Alaska. Of course this was making fun of Palin’s baby son, Trig, who has Down Syndrome. Of course this was an evil attempt to mock people who have Down Syndrome. Of course Palin is full of shit!

The world is full of cruel, cold-hearted people who would do such a thing. When is enough? And when are we going to be willing to say, you know, some things just aren’t really funny. –Sarah Palin

First of all, the episode featured a girl with Down Syndrome. Trig is a boy, and a baby. At most, this is making fun of Sarah Palin for being “defective” and having a child with Down Syndrome. But I don’t even think it goes that far. It’s a funny line about a public figure. I’ve been watching Family Guy for years and I can’t tell you how many people they have made fun of. Palin is the first person I ever heard of that had a problem with it, and took it deadly serious.

And what’s worse for Palin is that the voice actor, Andrea Fay Friedman, who also has Down Syndrome, spoke out and basically told Sarah to lighten up, and that she has no sense of humor. Wow, pwned! She got it good from a slow girl.

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes. –Andrea Fay Friedman

Only Sarah can look stupid twice on the same topic! But you know the old adage– garbage in, garbage out. You can’t make diamonds from a pile of shit.

PS – Please Republicans, choose Sarah as your 2012 nominee. That would make me so happy:)

Personally, I think Obama has done nothing in a year, but it’s a better nothing than GW did in eight.

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how he inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

George Bush is the only president who SHOULD HAVE used a teleprompter. If he did, gems such as these wouldn’t have crossed his lips:

“There’s an old saying in Tennessee – I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee… that says, fool me once, shame on… shame on you. Fool me… you can’t get fooled again.”

“Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB/GYN’s aren’t able to practice their love with women all across the country.”

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”

Need we (GW) say more?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

GW didn’t have a desire for the high life. He felt much more at home in Crawford Texas, where he spent about 50% of his first 8 months of his presidency right up until that pesky 9-11 thing happened. He was having so much free fun that he didn’t have time to read the intelligence brief titled “Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US.” That would be a funny line, if it weren’t actually true. Note: 9-11 cost > than Obama trip.

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If not for the Obama administration, GM would no longer be a corporation, and your GM stock would have been reduced by 100%. That is, if you were still actually working in a US facility. Thanks to GW, most of those jobs headed across our border.

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

Absolutely not. At one point in his early life, GW surely must have competed in a special olympics tournament… and lost. I would never make fun of anyone’s disabilities.

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

George Bush couldn’t even tell you the DVD region code for the US, let alone a foreign country. Bush gives gifts that keep on giving, like a perpetual war in the mid-east.

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

This one is cruel. No one, especially the Queen of England, should ever be subjected to any speech, ever, by George Bush (see quotes above). Also, the chances of Bush actually syncing an iPod with iTunes would be less than his chances were for privatizing social security, which in essence, is an oxymoron. How can you privatize something that is social?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

Bowing would have been more graceful than walking around holding the hand of the Saudi Prince Abdullah at his ranch in Crawford, Texas back in 2005. The sad part is, I think the Prince was leading him.

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

George Bush always makes reference to his nonexistent language– English. Bush is more proficient in pig-latin than he is using English grammar. Some of his favorite words, including some he just made up are: misunderestimate, Strategery, nuc-u-lar, and my favorite, Amurkan, which I’m proud to be.

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

That would never happen under GW. He would have proposed congress lower the tax rates for his rich buddies. Those top 1% of income earners have it really bad these days.

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

Oh, like the time, on spanish television in 2001, when Bush was showing off his spanish, mispronounced the prime minister’s name. Bush later said “I have to practice this very lovely language. If I don’t practice I am going to destroy this language.” And that would make two.

If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

This one is too easy, so I’m skipping it. The list of words GW has used and abused could fill a dictionary.

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

Probably not. But planting a tree is creating life, the opposite of what Bush is best known for. Specifically the thousands of brave men and women who are now dead thanks to a war of choice in Iraq and a failed and flawed war in Afghanistan. Also, global warming is a myth, so why would Bush want to plant a tree in the first place?

If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

Is that worse than Dick Cheney having the “presidential” powers of being able to authorize a shoot-down of a US plane. And worse, the plane which crashed in Pennsylvania on 9-11 was likely shot down and not crashed, as the debris field was “miles” wide, rather than centrally located in a crash site, as would be expected. Maybe Bush okay’d that one?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major on-going political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

George Bush first heard about Katrina on TV a week after it happened. People were sitting on roofs for 5 days before Bush had the noble idea of flying a helicopter over New Orleans and giving a presidential wave to all the victims.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

GM asked the government for help. They gave up certain rights when they did that. What’s this, a company within a capitalistic society asking the government for socialism? If something is unconstitutional, take it to the Supreme Court. Justice shall prevail.

If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

Oh, this must be the new math. Bill Clinton left the white house with a surplus. GW took over and never once vetoed a spending bill and dug this country into deficits and a trillion dollar war(s). And to add insult to injury, he and the Goldman Sachs crooks cost the country 700 billion in TARP relief right as the presidential door was hitting him in the ass. Remember the one page relief plan Henry Paulson, former CEO of Goldman presented? It stated that he could dole out the money as he saw fit and that there would be no legal recourse against him. Not surprisingly, Goldman got tens of billions from that deal.

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

10 years? Bush would have needed just half a third term and he would have tripled it!

Complete moron. The guy rambled on for over 90 minutes on familiar topics– the evil West and the more evil Jews. He even touched on the JFK conspiracy to boot.

Anyway, I’m not writing because I care about him or what he said, I’m writing because each time I saw his name, either in print or on TV, it was spelled differently. I know the news business is cut-throat, but can they get some people on a conference call and maybe agree on the guy’s name? Even bin Laden didn’t have to go through this and he’s a much bigger ass-hole.

So here are some of the different ways this guy’s name was spelled. Also, I’m only talking about the last name, let’s not even worry about the first name. That’s a bag of hurt.

Is it Gadhafi (AP), or Qaddafi (Fox News), or Gaddafi (Reuters), or Kadafi (LA Times), or Khadafy (New York Post)? Who knows, and who really cares.

Aside from some sound problems, a few hecklers, and a moderator who couldn’t reign in the guests (or audience) during the Q&A session, it was a great show.

In The Beginning

The theatre doors opened up about 7:35 PM EST, and we promptly took our seats. The Wang Theatre is a very nice building, spacious with great views of the stage throughout the theatre seating. We were sitting in the orchestra (center) section, row W; a direct and center line of site with the stage. There were two large video screens on either side of the stage for additional viewing.

The atmosphere was great and the theatre filled up to (it looked like) capacity. After the president and CEO of the Citi Performing Arts Center came out and gave a brief speech, the producer of the show came out and spoke a little about Ann Coulter and Bill Maher. Once his speech and a few canned jokes were finished, the show began.

Enter Stage Right Wing

Ann Coulter was the first to be introduced. She walked onto the stage and took her place behind the podium. She was just as tall as she looks on TV, and just as skinny. They say television adds ten pounds to you. Well, the stage took back those ten, and I think, took another five as well. As someone uttered in the seats next to me, “she needs to eat.” I wanted to buy her a #1 with a Coke and a fillet sandwich at McDonalds.

Coulter spoke for about 20 minutes. The speech was prepared, but it looked as if her notes were more an outline, as she had good eye contact with the audience and presented herself well. Her speech tended to stray to many topics, as if she was trying to pack as much into her allotted time as possible. It was classic Ann Coulter. She went after Bill and Hillary Clinton, John McCain, liberals, the media, non-conservatives, etc. Although she’s not a comedian per se, like many of her television appearances, she mixes up fiction with humor;) Well, some fact, but mostly her conservative bent shines through. Some of her jokes, only she got, but audience reaction was good, and overall she did a great job.

Boo Birds

Twice, Coulter’s speech was stopped by hecklers, to which she responded, “ushers, ushers.” The crowd laughed and she continued. I was surprised at how equal the crowd was in their political affiliations. Before the show, the producer asked how many people thought Barack Obama was doing a good job, and how many people thought that he wasn’t. The applause for each was about equal, and I thought at one point the non-Obama people cheered louder. For Boston, in a blue state, that seemed strange. I definitely thought she would get more audience abuse than Bill Maher. Coulter finished her speech to applause and she walked off the stage.

Enter Stage Left Wing

When Bill Maher was introduced, the audience reaction was a bit more invigorated and louder than for Coulter. When Maher got to the podium and started speaking, it appeared as if he’d “had a couple” before the show. He was speaking slower than normal and his eyes looked a little heavy. The woman next to me said “he looks tired.” He did.

As the minutes moved on, he got his pep back, and by mid-speech, he was his regular self. Maher’s speech was more direct and to the point. He focused on 12 reasons why he doesn’t like Republicans. Like Coulter, he stayed on topics he has spoken about throughout the years, including greed, Sarah Palin, George W Bush, science, religion, republicans, Rush Limbaugh, etc.

The Wrath Of Bill

Maher got about to point number four, when some in the audience turned a bit unruly. At first Maher called out the ushers, just as Coulter did. Then again, he instructed the ushers and asked if they were all “75 years old,” as it was taking so long for them to actually find people who were unruly. He then joked that if John McCain would have won the Presidency, because of his age, this slowness would be indicative of McCain’s administration. Actually, the ushers were kind of old, especially for the type of crowd that Bill Maher and Ann Coulter generate. I’m sure they’ll hire some additional security for the next Speaker Series event.

During these brief interludes of delay, Maher was cracking jokes and making the best of the situation. Just as he got back to his speech, another person to the back and right of us started yelling. At this point, Maher had enough. He shouted back, and I’m paraphrasing here, “People paid good money to be here tonight and you’re ruining it for them, so sit down and shut the f@ck up.” The crowd lit up with applause. The heckler continued, and Maher hit back, “If you actually did something with your life, maybe you’d be up hear and people would be paying to hear you speak.” It was classic Bill Maher and a great moment for him on stage. He took control of that room.

Every time Maher got angry and made this guy look silly, the crowed erupted in applause. This altercation went on for about five minutes, and Maher was letting this guy have it with choice obscenities and the evil eye. Once the episode was over, Maher continued his speech, and asked “What, am I on point five?”

Because of all the interruptions, it seemed he was on stage far longer than Coulter. If he appeared tired at the start of his speech, he surely was live and awake now. Once he finished his speech, Coulter came out along with the moderator, and they all sat down on the chairs at center stage.

Q&A With Ann & Bill

The last hour or so of the show took place with Ann and Bill answering questions posed by the moderator. Maher was much more animated in this setting, as they were able to be more relaxed sitting in nice, comfy chairs. The most animated he got was then they got around to talking about science, religion, and the bible.

The moderator spoke about Bill’s movie, Religulous, and asked him to speak about creationism. Coulter referred to it as Intelligent Design, to which Maher couldn’t help but break out in a laugh. Maher recounted how that at the Creationist Museum he visited for his movie, they had dinosaurs with saddles on them, perpetrating the fraud that humans co-existed with dinosaurs.

Some of Coulter’s assertions during the Q&A were that the majority of scientists concluded that evolution is a falsehood and that adult stem cells offer more medical hope than embryonic stem cells. She also stated that liberals are more a detriment to science than conservatives. Maher looked puzzled, but he let it go.

The low-light of the night was that moderator. He had a weird way about him. He had no control of either guest or the crowd, and twice Bill Maher had to ask him “Do you know me? Have you ever watched my show?,” to which the moderator said “no.” The moderator asked stupid questions of Maher, such as “How do you feel about legalizing Marijuana?” Duh…

To Serve Man

Having seen these two speak on television for years now, it was quite different to see them on stage in-person. On TV, they are not real. They are just talking heads with no connection to the real world. But in-person, they are flesh and blood, they are human. They have feelings, convictions, and act just like the rest of us. I used to say I hate Ann Coulter. I can’t say I hate her anymore. I don’t agree with her mostly, but I don’t hate her. She is passionate about what she believes in, and that has to be respected. As much as I was in direct opposition to most of her comments throughout the night, she did make valid points, and those jerks who interrupted her should have been thrown out without question.

Being a huge Bill Maher fan, I was very pleased with his performance. If anything, I even agree with him more and have a much better connection with his rational for his beliefs and opinions. Tuesday night, on display was the ultimate freedom that we all bask in– freedom of speech. It was a flawless example of the principles of the founders of this country. Two diametrically opposed individuals, on stage together, engaging in vibrant debate. Agree or disagree with either of them, we all benefit from open discussion about the political landscape in this country.

I’ll end this article with some words of wisdom from a guy two seats to my right. As one jerk was getting escorted out by security, shouting stupidity, this guy sitting next to me had a couple words for that jerk. The guy sitting next to me succintly and eloquently summed up the feelings of the crowd– f@ck you (two times)! Well said.

One word.. WOW! I heard some commotion about a comic being published making fun of President Barack Obama. It wasn’t until tonight that I saw the comic. Wow!

Either Rupert Murdoch has got one GIANT set of balls or he has complete morons working for him at the New York Post– the paper owned by News Corp, a company for which Rupert is a major shareholder– and the paper that published the aforementioned comic. The execs at Fox News Channel must even be sitting back and scratching their heads, wondering how this one got out.

One…Two…How Stupid Can I Be?

Let’s see if I can give the Post the benefit of the doubt here. There have a bunch of right-wing nuts running around there since Murdoch took over. They also have a core political philosophy that I don’t agree with. But, I can understand this comic in one way, a way that may not be an overt racist attack on the President. The Post, and many republicans hate this stimulus bill. They don’t like anything about it. In that sense, they must think that even a chimp’ could write this bill.

Evolution Of A Different Sort

The only problem, chimps, monkeys, gorillas, and any other primate you want to include can be mistaken as a racist interpretation, especially when it comes to degrading a President who also happens to be black. If this was Bush, you could easily understand and laugh. Since this is not Bush, you can understand the uproar.

Now, just because Obama happens to be black doesn’t mean he is off limits when it comes to satirization. He is fair game. However, you must understand the delicate nature of racism, especially as it pertains to white-on-black racism. Yes, there is also black-on-white racism. The problem, this country has had more than it’s share of white-on-black racism and neither is acceptable.

I just can’t believe any newspaper would depict an African American as a monkey. I just can’t. Now, I wouldn’t even think twice if I saw a comic of this nature on the web. You expect that, given the heightened freedom of speech that the web offers. But you don’t expect a popular newspaper such as the New York Post to depict Obama as a monkey.

Opportunity Knocks

Of course the usual suspects are taking advantage of this foul-up. I see the Rev. Al Sharpton sticking his head out from the rock he lives under. I’ve never actually seen this guy in a church, only sticking his nose in racial matters, usually making them worse or blowing them out of proportion. I’m sure Obama is getting a good laugh. As if he didn’t already know his political enemies…

Update 02.24.09

In a statement published in the New York Post today, Murdoch said he wanted to “personally apologize to any reader who felt offended, and even insulted.” He said the Post will work to be more sensitive.

This is a bullshit apology. If he felt he did anything wrong, this is what he would have said, “I would like to personally apologize for the offensive and quite insulting nature of this cartoon.” That would have been an apology. What he gave, read between the lines, means “We didn’t do anything wrong. The similarity between a monkey and Obama is a coincidence. We are not offended, so how can any of you be? It’s my paper, I will publish what I want.”

I missed the debate Tuesday night as I had a 5 hour Advanced C++ class to attend, but I did manage to watch a streaming video of some of it– just enough to hear John “My Friends” McCain. I ended up watching the pundants speak after the debate, then watched some of the replay.

It wasn’t long before I realized that McCain’s campaign is as thriving as Elvis’ pulse. These findings were later confirmed when every major post-debate poll showed that Obama in fact won the debate.

This was really no surprise to me as McCain has been probably the most boring, no balls, candidate I’ve seen in quite some time. The first thing I thought was that I wanted to watch “Fox & Friends” in the morning so I could see how Fox would spin this, and see if they would actually submit to sanity, and agree that Obama won. Boy, was I wrong.

Steve Doocy started to offer polls in which Obama won the debate. However, he then “clarified” for the viewers the faults of each poll. For instance, the CBS poll, says Doocy, is faulted because of the way they handle undecided voters. He says it’s “confusing.” Maybe for him. I was getting pissed-off at this point.

Doocy then cuts to Frank Luntz, generally republican leaning, who is a pollster and is sitting with about 20 people. Remember, this is Fox News, so I was expecting everyone to go for McCain. Boy, was I wrong. Overwhelmingly, the people said Obama won, and the switchers were switching to Obama like 5 to 1. Luntz said, before handing it back to Doocy, “looks like Obama had a great night,” to paraphrase.

Would Doocy listen to reason? Would he concede Obama won? Surely he had to now, right? Boy, was I wrong. What he next did, is, wow, I’ve never seen it. Overlooking all the major polls from reputable news outlets, Doocy did something so insane that I was a little shocked– he cited a sole poll (or soul-less pole) from Matt Drudge’s (gay republican – who isn’t even liked by the people he intends to support) web site and said that Drudge visitors chose McCain as the winner, something like 60% to 20%.

Then, Brian Kilmeade, I guess ignoring the same polls as Doocy, prefaces the next guest by saying “Did McCain get the knockout punch he needed?” WTF? How do you land a knock out punch sitting flat on your ass?

Then, they get a house republican to go over the reasons why McCain won. I was shocked. I was driven to write this article, even though I don’t really have the time as I have so much work to do. I can’t believe it. I’m going back to bed.

Pwnt! Well, another of the “good reasons” we went to war with Iraq has proved a myth– along with all the others, like WMD and Saddam’s nuclear ambitions. I wonder if Bush and Cheney still hold these “truths” self-evident? Morons!

In a report released today (wow another Friday release, go figure) by the Senate, Saddam Hussein regarded al-Qaida as a threat rather than a possible ally, contradicting assertions President Bush and Dick Cheney had used to build support for the war in Iraq.

Smoke And Mirrors

Take this to the bank.. whenever Bush releases anything on Friday (like other presidents before him), it means he got pwnt, and it’s information he wishes you would rather not see. I always laugh when I hear commentators talk about the old “Friday” rule, as I never understood it, but do now.

Not only does this report refute *everything* Bush has told us, it even goes on to say our intelligence was a disaster waiting to happen. If Bush would have spent less time in Crawford, TX during the Spring/Summer months, 9/11 may have been averted. If he was proactive with intelligence instead of proactive with a tractor, things might be different today.

Lies, More Lies, And Even More Lies

The report concludes that postwar findings do not support a 2002 intelligence report that Iraq was reconstituting its nuclear program, possessed biological weapons or had ever developed mobile facilities for producing biological warfare agents.

Remember when Bush had Colon Powell go in front of the UN and spew a bunch of administration lies? I give Colon Powell so much credit for leaving Bush, and standing up for his own principles. I would have rather seen Powell as president, instead of a monkey in a suit.

On Oct. 7, 2002, the same day Bush gave a speech speaking of such a link, the CIA had sent a declassified letter to the committee saying it would be an “extreme step” for Saddam to assist Islamist terrorists in attacking the United States.

Pants On Fire

So again, was Bush misinformed, or did he just make shit up? I think it’s a little of both, or a lot of one. Bush is a moron, we all know that. But you can’t be that stupid to put our country in financial and national security jeopardy by going off half-cocked into a war of choice.

This presidency has deceived more than any other probably since Nixon. If one good thing comes out of this is that there will never be another Bush in the White House as long as I’m still on this Earth.

That at least is one thing I have to look forward to.

As promised, George W. Bush vetoed a proposed stem cell bill. The bill would have eased limits on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. It was his first veto in his 5 1/2 year Presidency, although not the first stupid decision he has made.

It has been reported that Bush is all in favor of idiotic stem cell research– something he has benefited immensely from!

The veto came a day after the Senate defied Bush and approved the legislation, 63-37, four votes short of the two-thirds margin needed to override.

Junk Reasoning

“This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others,” said Bush. Well, he’s sort of half right. This bill would have supported the use of unused and discarded human embryos for the benefits of people with afflictions such as cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. And let’s say for the sake of argument that this was “human life,” as we all know and experience. It wouldn’t be moral to sacrifice the lives of a few to save the future of the masses?

Wasn’t that why we dropped “the bomb?” To save the eventual deaths of millions of Japanese and tens of thousands of our troops? Why did it work back then? Why was the taking of 100,000 innocent lives better than shedding the blood of millions? Because it was the right thing to do.

Oh Grand One… We Salute You

“As science brings us ever closer to unlocking the secrets of human biology, it also offers temptations to manipulate human life and violate human dignity. Our conscience in history as a nation demand that we resist this temptation. America was founded on the principle that we are all created equal and endowed by our creator with the right to life. We can advance the cause of science while upholding this founding promise. We can harness the promise of technology without becoming slaves to technology. And we can ensure that science serves the cause of humanity, instead of the other way around.”

George W. Bush

Sorry Georgy Boy. In this life, nothing is guaranteed– and that includes the right to life. Once you invoke the “creator” line, you lose all credibility in your argument. Argue the facts of the case. Argue the scientific reasons behind your decision, but don’t invoke some stupid creator who didn’t have the foresight to create a healthy race and doesn’t have the balls to fix it. We now live in this mess.

What The Dilly Yo?

Where was Bush’s scientific gripe with stem cell research? Did I miss something? And why wasn’t he consulting Bill Frist (R-Tenn.)? After all, Bill Frist is the Senate Majority Leader and a doctor. Bush held his views in high esteem in the Schiavo case, so why isn’t he listening to Frist this time, now that Frist is in favor of stem cell research?

In announcing the veto, Bush was surrounded in the East Room by so-called “snowflake” families– those with children born through embryo donation.

Lab Rat

“They remind us of what is lost when embryos are destroyed in the name of research. The remind us that we all begin our lives as a small collection of cells. And they remind us that in our zeal for new treatments and cures, America must never abandon our fundamental morals,” Bush said.

That is fine and dandy. If people want to donate their embryos to infertile or otherwise incapable couples, I’m all for that. However, there are thousands of frozen embryos that are sitting in labs across this country. These will never be used and eventually will be destroyed? Why? Are you so proud that you would rather let these embryos die for nothing, rather than using them to advance cures for the world’s most horrible illnesses? I don’t see the logic.

Jesus Christ, My Lord, Savior, And Pain In My Ass

Bush’s veto was based solely on his religion’s beliefs and not that of any scientific logic. That makes Bush a fanatic. Plain and simple. People who can’t put aside their religion to intelligently and genuinely come to an understanding about issues they may not agree with for themselves, and solely base their feelings on what the “creator” told them should not be making decisions of this magnitude.

Or maybe there is an argument to Bush’s “human life” reference. After all, he has about as much sense as an embryo– a frozen embryo at that. [Conservatives won't laugh at this, but I can assure you, it is funny]

The Final Frontier

This reminds me of an episode of Star Trek (original series). In this episode, Nomad, a robot/spaceship of sorts, went around the universe looking for less than “perfect” specimens to destroy. He called Kirk the creator, and would listen to everything he said. Kirk eventually used this trust to the demise of Nomad.

For all you religious “Nomads” out there… did you ever stop to think your “creator” was leading you down the wrong path? After all, you’re all just a bunch of monkeys!

So I’m watching Fox News Channel tonight, and I see the well used “breaking news” logo. Five-hundred WMDs found in Iraq. Ok, sounds intriguing. I’d like to learn more.

I turn on Hannity & Colmes and I see Hannity creaming in his pants. Wow, I think to myself, this must be good news for the republicans. Then I see Sen. Rick Santorum (R) with some other guy, extolling the significance of this “great” WMD find, holding some sort of document. Then I think to myself, why is this jerk running around with classified info, and why isn’t the president telling me this? I start to get mistrustful of the old Fair & Balanced network.

My suspicions came to fruition. This is pure bullshit.

Digging For The Truth

I went to Fox News’ web site, as I heard Jim Angle had actually spoken to someone within the administration, and got the official administration line.

Asked why the Bush administration, if it had known about the information since April or earlier, didn’t advertise it, Hoekstra (republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee) conjectured that the president has been forward-looking and concentrating on the development of a secure government in Iraq.

Offering the official administration response to FOX News, a senior Defense Department official pointed out that the chemical weapons were not in useable conditions.

“This does not reflect a capacity that was built up after 1991,” the official said, adding the munitions “are not the WMDs this country and the rest of the world believed Iraq had, and not the WMDs for which this country went to war.”

–FNC web site

A Breath Of Fresh Truth

So let’s see. These were pre-1991 weapons, most likely produced and buried during the 1980s. They were degraded to the point they were no longer useful. We found 500 of them since invading Iraq. And Shawn Hannity wants me to apologize to president Bush because he was right all of the time, saying Iraq had WMDs. Is he smoking crack?

Everyone knows Saddam had weapons. The United States provided Iraq with biological and chemical weapons technology back in the 1980s, when we loved Saddam because he hated Iran. We knew this guy buries weapons like a dog buries bones. Was there ever doubt we would inevitably find old weapons buried? Of course not. I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually find thousands more weapons, degraded to be sure, buried in the vast wasteland of Iraq.

So after finding out the truth, and reading the declassified document, which can be found at the Fox News Channel’s web site, I finally got the whole story– which is there is NO story. This is old news. Nothing new to see here. Keep moving folks.

Right-Wing Nutjob

And yet, Sean Hannity said tonight that “they found 500 weapons today.” Today? You mean about 3 years worth of today’s. We found 500, pre-1991, old and degraded weapons in almost three years. That’s not today. Sean, you are pathetic. I almost feel embarrassed for you.

I should apologize to Bush because he has been vindicated? Apologize because we finally found the WMD? If this is the WMD Bush meant when he took us to war, shedding the blood of over 2,600 young men and woman, then Bush is more of a fool than I and the world first thought. Vindication in this sense will bring condemnation. What fool brings a country to it’s knees for 500 degraded canisters of gas?

As I go to bed tonight, two things will not have been proven out– An active WMD program in Iraq and the sanity of Sean Hannity.

U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and FBI Director Robert Mueller on Friday urged telecommunications officials to record their customers’ Internet activities, CNET News.com has learned.

Well, George Bush and his baddies are at it again, expressing a great desire to completely destroy any privacy you thought you had left.

In a private meeting with industry representatives, Gonzales, Mueller and other senior members of the Justice Department said Internet service providers should retain subscriber information and network data for two years, according to two sources familiar with the discussion who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The closed-door meeting at the Justice Department, which Gonzales had requested, according to the sources, comes as the idea of legally mandated data retention has become popular on Capitol Hill and inside the Bush administration. Supporters of the idea say it will help prosecutions of child pornography because in many cases, logs are deleted during the routine course of business.

News.com

And you people voted republican why?

Big Gay Brother

Since people communicate more freely and openly online, this frightening plan would give the government better understanding of what people do and want. And for the party in power, it basically let’s them see who their friends and enemies are. This article even speaks of e-mail messages and instant messaging being retained. If this weren’t for real it would be laughable.

People have come to expect their civil liberties and basic American rights being violated on an almost constant basis with this administration, but the idea of “watching” what people do for two years is simply insane. I’m really disgusted to be an American right now.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

I can’t help to wonder what happened to the “less government, smaller government” mantra republicans used to chant? I guess since 1994 they’ve had a change of heart, and since 2000, they’ve continuously tried to bring big government into your living-room.

False Arguments

And again, they are using child pornography as the basis for their proposed plan. So in order to catch a small percentage of on-line users who are scum, they will kill all of our rights in the process? This is basically how all bad laws work– they take rights away from honest, law-abiding citizens. The criminals are still criminals. They didn’t’ follow previous laws on the books and they’re not going to follow new laws. It’s all a farce.

Free Will At Cost

If you know the government has access to all your communication, including what you write, see, and read, will you be less inclined to voice your opinion in opposition of the government? Of course you will! Look what Bush and this Attorney General are doing with journalists. It’s getting to the point where they can’t print anything that goes against the administration’s line, or else they may face jail time if they don’t “give up” their sources, so the government can, in turn, go after the filthy “leaker.”

When the media is too scared to print the truth, what do you get? CHINA. If I want to get screwed by my government and have all my thoughts censored, I’ll hop on a plane Beijing. Until then, I want my freedom that our supposed forefathers gave us.

I don’t need no tank on my back and I don’t need George Bush up my ass! And Georgy Boy, if you are reading this, file this one under “George Bush/Asshole President.”

President Bush gave a speech last night about his plans for a comprehensive immigration policy. In true Bush fashion, he did in all in under 20 minutes, and nobody really knows much more than they knew before.

The only real new idea was a plan for an immigrant ID. This ID would allow immigrants to be tracked, and would allow prospective employers to verify the person whom they are hiring is really who he/she says they are. This would be a really great idea, except for the fact that this does nothing for immigration reform. It may help locating people already here, but without real immigration border control, ID cards will just remind us how much our immigration policies are failed.

Walking The Tight-Rope

Bush ran right down the middle of the field last night, not hurting nor helping his cause. No one’s mind was changed last night, and many people are even more strongly opposed to any form of amnesty, no matter what happy face you put on it.

He gave a little to the House– mentioning the immigrants as “illegal,” something which Vicente Fox refuses to do, as well as sticking up for big business in saying that it’s often “difficult” for businesses to verify the status of the people they hire. Sure.

He gave a bit to the Senate, with the guest worker program, and a prolonged, protracted path to citizenship that basically amounts to amnesty.

Sign Me Up!

Bush continues to tell us his plan doesn’t include amnesty. In the letter of the law, it may not exactly equate to true amnesty, but the result is exactly the same. Illegals get to stay here for 11 years during the naturalization process. They must learn English, stay out of trouble, and pay taxes as well as a $2,000.00 fine. OK. But absent Bush’s reform, millions would have done just that anyway, so what exactly does Bush’s plan do? Nothing!

I’m A Guest, I Will Work

Another crazy notion Bush espoused is that with a guest worker program, illegals will stop coming over the border because they can do it legally. They can do it legally now! The whole point is that they don’t want to wait, they want freedom now. They want a better life now. With the guest worker program, they have to go back in a year, or whatever the term. Why go back? They can cross the border and stay forever. What illegal would want all that red tape of a guest worker program when they can just cross the border and get the 10-year amnesty program?

A Man Not Of The Polls

For a president that is compelled by his beliefs and convictions, he sure didn’t take a stand, one way or the other. Bush would have been better off to take either side — amnesty or deportation — than to give a few morsels to each side. It served no real purpose.

No better example of this is the National Guard aspect of his comprehensive plan. He is adding 6,000 Guardsmen on the border (the House cheers!), but he is not giving them any powers to actually stop illegals from crossing the border (the Senate erupts with applause). What kind of proposal is that? So you are hiring 6,000 guys to pump gas and be desk jockeys?

I’m A National Immigrant Watcher Guy

I like how Bush referred to some of their duties as “intelligence” related. What? All you have to do is pick up a pair of binoculars and you can see your “intelligence” crossing a river, jumping a fence, or crawling out through a hole in the ground. This has to be the weakest use of the military I’ve ever seen. The Guardsman may or may not even have weapons!

It was speeches like last night’s, and policy decisions over the last 5 years that will elect Democrats to run the House and Senate in November, and will raise them to the presidency in ’08.

Bush just makes me sick. If I were a Republican right now, I’d be even more sick to my stomach than I am.

In a new poll comparing President Bush’s job performance with that of his predecessor, a strong majority of respondents said President Clinton outperformed Bush on a host of issues.

The poll of 1,021 adult Americans was conducted May 5-7 by Opinion Research Corp. for CNN. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Respondents favored Clinton by greater than 2-to-1 margins when asked who did a better job at handling the economy (63 percent Clinton, 26 percent Bush) and solving the problems of ordinary Americans (62 percent Clinton, 25 percent Bush).

On foreign affairs, the margin was 56 percent to 32 percent in Clinton’s favor; on taxes, it was 51 percent to 35 percent for Clinton; and on handling natural disasters, it was 51 percent to 30 percent, also favoring Clinton.

Moreover, 59 percent said Bush has done more to divide the country, while only 27 percent said Clinton had.

When asked which man was more honest as president, poll respondents were more evenly divided, with the numbers — 46 percent Clinton to 41 percent Bush — falling within the poll’s margin of error. The same was true for a question on handling national security: 46 percent said Clinton performed better; 42 percent picked Bush.

So really, the only thing Bush will have in common with Clinton is that in the end they both will have been impeached. However, the Senate will find Bush guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. Even the commonality between the two isn’t that great. Clinton screwed Lewinsky, Bush screwed U.S. (I like that “us” and “U.S.” reference all in one shot).

What’s the lesson here? Don’t vote for so-called “moral” people. It’s not that they screw you any less, they just do it more quietly.

Album: The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan (1963)
Song: Masters Of War

This song is dedicated to George W. Bush and Donald Rumsfeld, for without whom this endless/mindless/lawless war would not have been made possible. The war on terror has become the war on Americans, with the falling of one civil liberty after another. The greatest nation on the face of the planet looks in the mirror, and doesn’t like what it sees.

It’s been debated whether or not Fox News’ Jim Angle has shit for brains. Well, there is no more debate– he does indeed have shit for brains!

In what can only be described as censorship in the most obvious light, especially in protecting or trying to protect one from embarrassing, even illegal activity, Jim Angle, when speaking about the resignation of CIA director Porter Goss, refused to tell the public a key issue in what may be a primary reason the director abruptly resigned.

And when I say refused, I mean he flat-out stated to the public we was not going to mention it. WoWz0rz! Can you imagine if it were a Democrat? Clinton even? You’d have to drag him off the set from talking about it all day.

A Shill Game

When interviewing a member of Congress, Angle asked his guest if the recent “rumblings” about matters he won’t discuss on air, could have contributed to the abrupt resignation. What? Won’t discuss? Well, this is Fox News I guess. Luckily we all have access to the web, and I could read the AP story of what really is going on.

Well, I found it. It is possible that Goss may be involved in the Duke Cunningham prostitute scandal.

Federal authorities are investigating allegations that a California defense contractor arranged for a Washington area limousine company to provide prostitutes to convicted former congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham (R-Calif.) and possibly other lawmakers [Insert Porter Goss Here], sources familiar with the probe said.

-Washington Post

I Walk The Party Line

So Angle was just doing his conservative/replublican duty of hiding details that may or may not involve Porter Goss? So he’s selectively choosing the news you need to hear in order to form your favorable opinions of the Bush administration– and we know they’ll take anyone who likes them these days.

Now, I don’t need anymore proof that Fox News is nothing more than an arm of the White House press office; but withholding information of this type is inexcusable. Period. He could have prefaced the accusation with a note about the credibility of the information, but he owes it to the public to state the truth.

Jim Angle has been added to the short list of Asshole Of The Year candidates.

Just when you think the Bush administration has been beaten to its last political breath, they show they are a glutton for pain and continue on with the horror show.

The domestic spying issue had legs for some time, only to be tossed aside when another administration blunder came calling– Dick Cheney’s “hunting” accident. Cheney’s problems mostly circulated amongst the left-leaning community. It shouldn’t have been a major issue, but because Cheney is, well Cheney, things got out of hand quickly.

So, for the better part of the last three months, spying and lying have plagued George Bush and the merry band of idiots around him. Those issues could be considered partisan, and for the most part they were.

This Is Where It Gets Good

I don’t like Bush. I’ll admit it. I’ll also admit it’s nice to see this latest firestorm erupt all around him. The firestorm I’m referring is the debacle involving Dubai Ports World, a company owned by the government of Dubai, and if Bush has his way, will control six of the largest ports in our country. Bush doesn’t know a shipping port from a router port.

Unlike the two other incidents I mentioned, this one is being assailed by democrats and republicans alike. From Bill Frist (R), Senate majority leader, to Dennis Hastert (R), Speaker of the House, along with Hillary Clinton (D), this snowball is growing faster than a Dick Cheney confession.

You Know I’m Drooling

For five years now, Bush has been telling us about the enemy. Showing us the enemy. Incarcerating the enemy. Making us fear the enemy. People finally identified the enemy, and Bush’s strong stand against the war on terror made people feel safe. There is no doubt that the enemy he showed us, made us fear, and identified were Arab males of Middle-Eastern descent.

Maybe he did too good of a job, because now when the people come to find out a company essentially run by the Dubai government will be protecting them from the smuggling in of a nuclear bomb, the people are reacting with surprise, insult, and outrage. What did Bush expect? He showed us the enemy, and used the enemy when it was for his gain.

Friend Or Foe?

Let’s speak for a moment about Dubai. Two 9-11 hijackers had Dubai passports, and were staying in Dubai. Dubai was funding those individuals by paying for their education and expenses. Dubai was one of only three countries to recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan. Dubai money has been linked to funding terrorist groups that are on the U.S. watch-list. Even the 9-11 commission found Dubai was used to fund these terrorists, as written in their report.

Since Bush didn’t follow through with any recommendations the 9-11 commission made, it’s no wonder why he’s making the choices he is now.

Is this the government you want protecting us? If we are to listen to what Bush has been saying, Dubai is protecting us from Dubai, and the rest of the Middle East. While we are at it, we might as well hire Iran to guard our nuclear facilities.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I know Dubai is not like some Muslim nations, namely Iran. However, elements within Dubai are radicals, including people who have standing in the Dubai government. Up front our Arab allies always appear friendly, but when push comes to shove, an Arab country will always side with another Arab country, even if they are in the wrong. Arabs will never side with the West. That’s the reality.

What Up?

So it perplexes me when Bush has led us to a war on terror, and now wants the fox guarding the henhouse. What’s more, Bush intimated that people are against this takeover of our ports because it involves Arabs, and that is the only reason. It’s not, but what does he expect?

Let’s see, we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq. We have a troop presence in both. Al-Qaeda has bombed our buildings, our embassies, and our ships. Do you see any connection there? Is it me, or does this appear to be a Muslim problem we got on our hands? Two-thirds of Bush’s “Axis of Evil” are Muslim nations.

Come On, Get Happy

But now, Bush is OK with Muslims. Not only does Bush have zero control over our borders, he now wants to place our security at the ports with a foreign company. Wow!

And what does Bush have to say to the people, Republicans and Democrats, who are saying he needs to review this matter? TOUGH!! He basically says it’s his choice, and he would veto any bill. But I have news for Bush. As usual he’s underestimated his enemies and friends alike. By taking such a thick-headed stand, he’s allied the forces he fears most– a Republican and Democrat revolt against him, a revolt that just may make him eat his words and use his veto pen.

The Mighty Pen

It’s ironic. The man who’s tough on terror, conservative on social issues, big on tax breaks, is the guy who will use his first ever veto to take sides against Americans vs. Dubai? Somehow this doesn’t seem right.

If this picks up more steam, and you know it will, Bush may have a huge defeat on his hands. I’ve heard people from the House and Senate who are already talking about having enough votes to override Bush’s veto. You know how humiliating that would be for Bush? A bipartisan beating like that would carry over to the mid-term elections and many of his friends would be booted out of office. That’s the only reason it may be hard to get the votes needed for an veto override. The Republicans know it would hurt them in November. But maybe they’ll put their beliefs and feelings ahead of politics.

SpongeBush MoneyPants

And why is Bush so headstrong with this Dubai plan? Well, more is coming out each hour it seems, but the “secret” cabinet that decided we would OK this Dubai plan, seems to have people who were associated with Dubai in a business relationship. Meaning, people had or have a vested interest in seeing this go through, either for “payback” reasons, or future financial gain.

CFIUS is headed by Treasury Secretary John Snow and comprised of members of the departments of State, Justice, Commerce, Defense and Homeland Security.

CSX rail corporation, of which Snow served as chief executive officer, sold its port operations to DP World in 2004. Moreover, David Sanborn, the president’s nominee to be head of the U.S. Maritime Administration headed DP World’s operations for Latin America and Europe.

This smacks of corruption, or in the very least the appearance of.

Bush doesn’t realize what he’s got on his plate, but it’s going to be a hard plate to swallow for the next several weeks. The Democrats will carry this one all the way home to November. I haven’t even heard Ted Kennedy’s views, but I’m sure I will soon enough.

News At 11

If you like a good horror show, stay tuned. Bush is going to get hacked to death on this one. It’s a lose/lose/lose situation for him. Since he has come out so tough against opponents, he can’t back down now. If he veto’s a bill to stop the transaction, it may get overrided. As a politician, you never back yourself in a corner like this.

Then again, Bush is no politician.

Update: 02.22.06 – It has come out that Bush was unaware of the ports deal until after it was approved. For someone who cares about our National security, that is pretty weak.

Update: 02.23.06 – In the latest development, Dubai Ports World has agreed to delay the takeover of six disputed US ports. I guess someone finally told Bush it would be a wise political move if he phoned Dubai and asked them to announce a delay on their behalf. This way, Bush saves face, and can now agree that this is something that should be looked into further. Either way, Bush still looks like an apprentice President.

On behalf of George W. Bush and the American people, I would like to congratulate Hamas on their recent victory in the Palenstinian elections.

George W. Bush was right for once, democracy has spread into the Middle East. The people have spoken, and want Hamas to lead them into the future. This is democracy at its finest. Kudos all around.

Washington Democracy

Now take a breath. Do you think those words are in any press release by the American government? The words I heard were, sanctions, terror list, no funding, and more terrorists. Is democracy only true when it works out he way you want it?

What more does Bush want? The people had free elections. They voted to be represented by Hamas, a bunch of serial killers who use religion as a means to kill people. But, the people have spoken. Is it right for us to judge who the Palestinian people want as leaders? No.

School Of Hard Knocks

Here is a lesson for Bush, you can’t pick and choose democracy. It comes in the same packaging everytime. People vote and people decide. In a free society, Palestine is as democratic as the United States. They voted. They chose their leadership.

Bush should be happy, but he isn’t. This is not the democracy he wanted. And that is the point. Bush wants democracy in the Middle East only if it looks and feels like the democracy we have in the West. That is never going to happen, no matter how much Bush says otherwise. You can’t treat people like your pet projects.

Maybe now Hamas will end suicide violence and actually act like a democracy.

Enough! George W. Bush is a moron. Doesn’t he get sick of giving the same terrorism speech over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over?

Having been snowed in today, and my satellite reception knocked off for a few hours, I was sickened, but not surprised to hear Bush giving a speech about terrorism when the signal finally came back on. What the hell is his problem? Why is this nut a one-trick pony? Does he just use the same speech, changing phrases here and there to suit the day’s events?

George Duh-Duh-Dubya

Not only is he the most unintelligent president this country has ever had (name one with less merit), but he displays his stupidity speech after speech. News flash, 9-1-1 is over. Those days are gone. This guy is living in the past. But he knows the only way he stays in office is to scare us with terrorism. He did it in his first term, he did it to get re-elected. He shouldn’t hate Bin Laden, he should think of him as a pal; a pal who helped him stay elected.

Why end terrorism? As long as you have it, and he needs it, it’s worth his while to keep talking about it. If the terrorists really wanted him gone, they should have just stopped the killing. With no domestic agenda, and a failed social security reform, Bush has nothing. Done nothing. He’s a joke.

Bin Laden and his buddies are even more stupid, as they could make Bush actually start talking about our domestic issues, rather than occupying countries and making them into third-world dives.

Ship Of Fools

It’s a well known fact that Bush has always depended on the people around him to run his administrations, be it governor or president. It’s just a shame that the people around him are all ass holes. If anyone actually knew what he was thinking, maybe he would have an idea or two. But as it is, Dick Cheney runs the country, and as such, we are in the shit-hole we find ourselves in today.

Bush uses the word terror like Clinton used the word prosperity. Which do you prefer?

A new primary seat belt law was passed by the Massachusetts state House this week, and will be signed by the Governor, Mitt Romney. The law passed 76 to 74. This is nothing more than insurance companies finding a way to boost profits by not having to pay auto injury claims.

Buy Me A Vote Daddy

By only two votes, the state House of Representatives narrowly passed a law to allow police to stop vehicles if the occupants are not wearing seat belts, following an impassioned debate that centered on civil liberties and the role of government in the safety of its citizens.

Under current state law, adults are already required to wear seat belts. But police cannot use seat belts as the reason for pulling someone over, unless a passenger under 12 years old is not buckled up.

Under the proposed change, the fine for not wearing a seat belt would remain $25. It still would not count against a driver’s auto insurance. The legislation would not allow police to search a vehicle or its occupants “solely” on the basis a seat belt stop.

If It Ain’t Broken…

If two thirds of the citizens are already wearing their seat belts, why is this law needed? Massachusetts already has one of the nation’s lowest fatality rates when it comes to auto-related accidents. Again I ask, why is this law needed? Frankly, because the insurance companies are not happy with their current profits, they want more.

In counting about 20 passing cars, I found that about 15 of them had seat belts– and this is before the new law. So people see that they are safer wearing a seat belt. Why get the government involved in enforcing your safety?

My Brother, Big Brother

Common sense will tell you that if you are going to be in a moving vehicle, a seat belt is always a good idea. If you get into an accident, you are far more likely to walk out unharmed if you have your seat belt on. But does this give the government the right to set up roadblocks and demand entry into your car because you happen to not be wearing a seat belt?

And by not wearing a seat belt who are you hurting? Who are you saving? A better question might be, why is the government trying to save you from yourself?

Studies have shown that seat belt use is only really effective in head-on collisions and role-overs.

When we speed, we can cause harm to others. We can hurt not only ourselves, but innocent people. If you choose not to wear a seat belt you only can cause harm to yourself. So in effect, the insurance companies are saying “we will protect you regardless if you want that protection.”

Brother Knows Best

Why stop with seat belts? Why not tobacco products? Smoking-related illness a leading burden on our health care system, yet smoking is fine and dandy. You can smoke to your heart’s content while driving, however you now better be wearing a seat belt while doing it.

This is just insane. Where do we stop? Do we now go into the home; the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, basement? Do we start sending “big brother” to inspect your home weekly, monthly? Are your knives too dull? Is your bathroom floor too slippery? Where would it end?

What about the food we eat? Obesity is another growing problem for our health care system. Do we set up video surveillance outside your kitchen window so you don’t have more than one egg and a strip of bacon each day?

Taking away liberties is not the way to run a government. Unjust laws are laws that do not need to be obeyed. The state can kiss my @ss on this one!

If President George W. Bush hasn’t been informed by now, here’s a piece of info GW– Iran hates us. And not only do they hate us, they are trying to build nukes to prove they hate us, and to possibly use that as leverage against our international policies on Israel and other Islamic states.

For years now, Iran has stated it would only use nuclear technology for energy-related purposes, and not for nuclear weapons. Yeah, like they need any power sources other than oil. But the cat may have been let out of the bag.

At the gathering of world leaders at the United Nations, Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad quietly made some comments that are quite contrary to the “honest-nuke” program they say they are running. Ahmadinejad said “Iran is ready to transfer nuclear know-how to the Islamic countries due to their need.”

Sure. That is like giving scissors to a baby; you just know something bad is going to happen.

Excusez-moi?

Now pardon my French, but the Arabs have all the oil they will need for the foreseeable decades. Why on Earth would they need nuclear power aside from the oil they have? Their need? Would this need include eradicating all infidels from the face of this planet? Would this need include arriving at Times Square for a New Year’s Eve party, suitcase nuke in one hand, the Quran in the other?

China, Russia, United States; these countries have nukes to protect themselves. Only in the most special circumstances would these countries even think about launching a nuke at another country.

Our reasons were simple– Mutual Assured Destruction, or “MAD” as it was known. That simply meant that if you launch at us, we launch at you, and we both are toast. Death meant something to these countries. They didn’t want an end to civilization.

On the other hand, these Muslim terrorists don’t care about their brothers and sisters. They only care about destroying the West. They’ll kill 100 Muslims just to get the chance at taking out one American. There is a word for this– sick!

Living in Paradise

These guys don’t care what our response would be when faced with a dirty nuke, or a suitcase nuke detonation on our soil. They know we would respond with a nuclear attack. Remember that mountain chain on the Afghan-Pakistan border? Remember Iran? Get the picture? By the stupidity caused by a few Muslims, tens of thousands of Muslims would perish in our military response. Is that our fault? No.

Of course, that just adds to the rhetoric the Muslim terrorists will bring against us, stating how we murdered their brothers, when they could care less about anyone but themselves and this twisted religion they use as a foundation for their insane beliefs.

Some people remember all too well the last nuclear threat, in the Cuban Missile Crisis. But do you remember a few years back to September 11, 2001? That was a devastating day, but let’s just imagine the scenario quite different for a moment.

The Bigger One

The White House, Capital Building, and the Pentagon, all destroyed. The World Trade Center leveled. Biological contaminates airborne, in and around lower Manhattan. Thousands dead from the initial attacks, tens of thousands with signs of biological contamination. Dozens of senators and congressman dead.

Now take that in for a moment. Then realize that World War III would have begun on September 11, 2001. You think WWII was the big one?

And the sad part is in that moment of horror, and anger, would come senseless death to many innocent people whom had nothing to do with the terrorists. We would inevitably kill thousands and thousands of innocent people. But in the face of total annihilation, that is the wage of war. President Bush would have had no other choice but to defend our country with nuclear weapons. Any less and he would have shown to everyone that the United States is ripe for the picking. A decisive and quick strike against Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and maybe even North Korea would have been possible.

Now sitting here years after the fact, you may think that is the craziest thing you’d ever heard of. But with New York and Washington D.C. in pure panic and ruin, impulse is quicker than forethought.

It’s true the Muslim terrorists would have killed thousands more in a savage attack as outlined above, however they also know we would have killed more of them, and even more innocent civilians. That is the sad fact of this hijacked faith. They just don’t care about human life. As long as their perceived “enemy” is taken out, they don’t really care what happens to them or the people around them.

This is the new war, and it must be fought on different terms. I feel sorry for the innocent people of Iran if any Iranian nuclear technology gets into the hands of terrorists, for thousands of innocent people will die in the process.

That is the wage of war.
