Congratulations Hamas!

On behalf of George W. Bush and the American people, I would like to congratulate Hamas on their recent victory in the Palenstinian elections.
George W. Bush was right for once, democracy has spread into the Middle East. The people have spoken, and want Hamas to lead them into the future. This is democracy at its finest. Kudos all around.
Washington Democracy
Now take a breath. Do you think those words are in any press release by the American government? The words I heard were, sanctions, terror list, no funding, and more terrorists. Is democracy only true when it works out he way you want it?
What more does Bush want? The people had free elections. They voted to be represented by Hamas, a bunch of serial killers who use religion as a means to kill people. But, the people have spoken. Is it right for us to judge who the Palestinian people want as leaders? No.
School Of Hard Knocks
Here is a lesson for Bush, you can’t pick and choose democracy. It comes in the same packaging everytime. People vote and people decide. In a free society, Palestine is as democratic as the United States. They voted. They chose their leadership.
Bush should be happy, but he isn’t. This is not the democracy he wanted. And that is the point. Bush wants democracy in the Middle East only if it looks and feels like the democracy we have in the West. That is never going to happen, no matter how much Bush says otherwise. You can’t treat people like your pet projects.
Maybe now Hamas will end suicide violence and actually act like a democracy.
