The Debate Against Sanity

I missed the debate Tuesday night as I had a 5 hour Advanced C++ class to attend, but I did manage to watch a streaming video of some of it– just enough to hear John “My Friends” McCain. I ended up watching the pundants speak after the debate, then watched some of the replay.
It wasn’t long before I realized that McCain’s campaign is as thriving as Elvis’ pulse. These findings were later confirmed when every major post-debate poll showed that Obama in fact won the debate.
This was really no surprise to me as McCain has been probably the most boring, no balls, candidate I’ve seen in quite some time. The first thing I thought was that I wanted to watch “Fox & Friends” in the morning so I could see how Fox would spin this, and see if they would actually submit to sanity, and agree that Obama won. Boy, was I wrong.
Steve Doocy started to offer polls in which Obama won the debate. However, he then “clarified” for the viewers the faults of each poll. For instance, the CBS poll, says Doocy, is faulted because of the way they handle undecided voters. He says it’s “confusing.” Maybe for him. I was getting pissed-off at this point.
Doocy then cuts to Frank Luntz, generally republican leaning, who is a pollster and is sitting with about 20 people. Remember, this is Fox News, so I was expecting everyone to go for McCain. Boy, was I wrong. Overwhelmingly, the people said Obama won, and the switchers were switching to Obama like 5 to 1. Luntz said, before handing it back to Doocy, “looks like Obama had a great night,” to paraphrase.
Would Doocy listen to reason? Would he concede Obama won? Surely he had to now, right? Boy, was I wrong. What he next did, is, wow, I’ve never seen it. Overlooking all the major polls from reputable news outlets, Doocy did something so insane that I was a little shocked– he cited a sole poll (or soul-less pole) from Matt Drudge’s (gay republican - who isn’t even liked by the people he intends to support) web site and said that Drudge visitors chose McCain as the winner, something like 60% to 20%.
Then, Brian Kilmeade, I guess ignoring the same polls as Doocy, prefaces the next guest by saying “Did McCain get the knockout punch he needed?” WTF? How do you land a knock out punch sitting flat on your ass?
Then, they get a house republican to go over the reasons why McCain won. I was shocked. I was driven to write this article, even though I don’t really have the time as I have so much work to do. I can’t believe it. I’m going back to bed.
