The Longest Yard

Want to know where I’ve been the last few weeks? I’ve only been killing my back and roasting in the sun. The backyard was the main work area, but work stretched to the front of the house as well as the side. I was pretty handy with a chainsaw too!

The grass (sod) is only a week old in the picture. It took 130 rolls to cover the yard. When moist, these rolls can weigh 20 or more pounds. Try loading, unloading, then carrying 130 20-pound rolls around in a day! Trust me, you don’t want to. I had help, but it still was a b@tch. I was never so dirty.

I had bad luck with hoses. I went through three of them within a week. Finally, I bought a $40.00 GoodYear hose, which is industrial in strength. It aint breakin’.

Most of the backyard work is done, except for planting flowers and shrubbery here and there. The front is done, but the sides are a nightmare compared with the new work. That will have to wait until next season.
